Campaigns
Our advocacy efforts are evolving as our organization grows. Our initial campaigns are focussed in the film and television industry, advocating for access to bathroom facilities and to have peoples’ pronouns put on production paperwork. We are slowly gathering support to make industry wide change in these and other areas.
One of the best ways for employers and crew to help right now is to work towards making these goals a reality in your own workplace! Bring this to the Production Manager’s attention, advocate for these changes with your colleagues, educate yourself about transgender issues … every single person can make a big difference in the lives of transgender people!
Have an idea for a campaign or a collaboration? Get in touch on the contact page, we would love to hear from you!

Film & Television
The Film and Television Industry is a key focus for our organization, because of the longstanding and still rampant anti-femme and anti-trans attitudes prevalent in many of these workplaces. Actors are now (finally, thankfully) able to be out and still get work, but many of our members have been denied opportunities and faced harassment and violence with sometimes disastrous consequences. Despite attempts by some union members with more progressive views, the problems persist; homophobic and transphobic and misogynistic attitudes are far too common in our industry. We believe that there are skilled and dedicated technicians of all gender identities, and we must work to ensure that workplaces are safe for everyone.
Campaign for access to Gender-neutral bathrooms on sets
Advocate for Gender-neutral bathrooms to be available on every film set. Access to appropriate washroom facilities is extremely important. Transgender and Gender-nonconforming technicians have a lot to think about on set, and worrying about being “bathroom challenged” can cause substantial undue stress on top of their day’s work.
We ask that industry leaders take part in this initiative by working with producers, production managers, and location managers to ensure that Gender-neutral bathroom facilities are available on every set and in every set construction shop, so that Transgender and Gender-nonconforming people have access to safe and appropriate facilities in the workplace.

Campaign for publishing pronouns on production paperwork
Work to change standard industry practice to indicate crew members’ pronouns on crew lists and call sheets. This would normalize the idea across the industry that everyone has the right to define their own gender identity (as per the Ontario Human Rights Code), and that employers support gender diversity in their workplaces by acknowledging and respecting their employees’ individual identities.
We ask that industry leaders work together to formalize an industry standard for collecting and publishing gender identity information on production paperwork, so that Transgender and Gender-nonconforming people may be more often addressed by their proper pronoun in the workplace.

Multi-Industry
The construction industry is male-dominated. Misogynistic, homophobic, and anti-femme attitudes are dominant. Transgender and gender-nonconforming people are far too often unable to work in these environments, and as such are functionally excluded from employment in these areas regardless of their skills and aptitudes.
Through education, outreach, and advocacy, we seek to change the culture of construction workplaces to be less toxic for gender-diverse tradespeople. We will no longer accept our exclusion from these types of work due to harassment and violence.
